At Cognizant Energy, we want you to feel confident about joining our budget planning programs. Sometimes things don't work out as expected. We get it.
This policy explains when refunds apply and how the process works. We've tried to keep things straightforward because nobody likes digging through legal jargon when they're already frustrated.
1 Eligibility Criteria
Not every situation qualifies for a refund, but we're reasonable about this. Here's what makes you eligible:
- You request a refund within 14 days of program enrollment
- You've completed less than 15% of the course materials
- Technical issues on our end prevented access for more than 72 consecutive hours
- The program was cancelled or significantly altered by Cognizant Energy
- You provided incorrect payment information and were double-charged
Important Note: Once you've accessed more than 15% of program content or received personalized coaching sessions, partial refunds may apply instead of full refunds. We calculate this based on completed modules and downloaded resources.
2 How to Request a Refund
The process is simpler than you might expect. Just follow these steps and we'll take care of the rest.
Contact Support
Email help@cognizantenergy.com with your enrollment details and reason for the refund request. Be specific about what didn't meet your expectations.
Provide Details
Include your full name, payment reference number, and enrollment date. Screenshots help if you experienced technical problems.
Review Process
Our team reviews your request within 3-5 business days. We might reach out if we need additional information or clarification.
Receive Confirmation
You'll get an email with our decision. If approved, funds are processed back to your original payment method within the stated timeframe.
3 Processing Times
Different payment methods have different processing speeds. Here's what to expect based on how you paid:
Credit Cards
Refunds appear in 5-10 business days depending on your card issuer. Sometimes banks take longer during high-volume periods.
Debit Cards
Usually 7-12 business days. Some banks process these differently than credit card refunds for security reasons.
Bank Transfer
Takes 10-15 business days. We need to verify your account details before initiating the transfer for security purposes.
Digital Wallets
Fastest option at 3-5 business days. PayPal, Apple Pay, and similar services process refunds more quickly than traditional banking.
If you don't see your refund after the stated timeframe, contact your bank first. They might be holding it for verification. If that doesn't resolve things, reach out to us at help@cognizantenergy.com.
4 Partial Refund Scenarios
Sometimes a full refund doesn't apply but you're still entitled to get some money back. These situations result in prorated refunds:
Mid-Program Withdrawals: If you've completed 15-50% of materials, you'll receive a 50% refund. Beyond 50% completion, refunds typically don't apply unless there's a legitimate technical issue on our end.
Group Programs: When you enroll in cohort-based learning and withdraw after the second session, we calculate refunds based on remaining sessions. You pay for what you attended.
Bundle Purchases: Bought multiple programs together? We can refund unused portions if you've only accessed one program from the bundle within the 14-day window.
Subscription Services: Monthly subscribers can cancel anytime but refunds don't apply to the current billing period. Your access continues until the period ends.
Calculation Method: We determine partial refunds by tracking module completions, video watch time, and downloaded materials. The system logs this automatically so there's no guesswork involved.
5 Non-Refundable Items
Let's be clear about what we can't refund. These exceptions exist to protect the integrity of our programs:
- One-on-one coaching sessions already completed
- Downloadable resources and templates you've already accessed
- Certification fees submitted to third-party testing organizations
- Physical materials shipped to your address
- Program access beyond 30 days from enrollment date
- Services marked as "final sale" or "non-refundable" at purchase
We mark these clearly during checkout so there aren't surprises later. If something wasn't clearly labeled and you think you deserve an exception, contact us anyway. We review unusual situations on a case-by-case basis.
6 Special Circumstances
Life happens. We understand that emergencies and unexpected situations arise. Here's how we handle them:
Medical Emergencies: Documented medical situations extending beyond 30 days may qualify for full refunds even if you've accessed course materials. We'll need verification from a healthcare provider.
Natural Disasters: If you're affected by earthquakes, floods, or similar events that impact your ability to participate, we'll work with you on a case-by-case basis. Safety comes first.
Employment Changes: Lost your job or facing financial hardship? While this doesn't automatically qualify you for refunds outside the standard window, we can discuss payment plans or program deferrals.
Technical Incompatibility: If our platform genuinely doesn't work with your devices after we've attempted troubleshooting, we'll issue a full refund regardless of the timeline.
7 Program Transfers
Instead of a refund, you might prefer switching to a different program. That's often possible:
Within 30 days of enrollment, you can transfer to another program of equal or greater value. If the new program costs less, we'll refund the difference. If it costs more, you pay the additional amount.
Transfers maintain your original enrollment date for refund eligibility purposes. Your completed work in the first program doesn't count toward the 15% threshold in the new one.
You can only transfer once per enrollment. After that, standard refund policies apply if the second program isn't working out either.
